Prof. Prof. Prof. Dr. Öztürk Emiroğlu and Posof Kaymakam Mr. Jesus Bertan followed the activities that are maintained by examining the production area of bile, which opens purple flowers in Kumlukoz Village, linked to Posof district. Mr. Rector on the visit accompanied by the Secretary General of our University and the Secretary of Posof Vocational High School. Mr. Rector and Mr. Kaymakam, who examines the cultivation of bile, which is great strategic importance in terms of region agriculture and local development, received detailed information about the work carried out and the efficiency status of bile.
The foundation of this process successfully maintained in accordance with the targets of supporting regional development and local production was laid out with the "Gold Roots" project carried out under the collaboration protocol between institutions signed between the University and Ardahan Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The first bile cultivation under the project was carried out on July 30, 2025 in the field of the manufacturer Sont Saydan. bile plants that adapt to the climate and soil structure of the region in short time were successfully harvested by giving first products in October 2025. Following the received positive results, the manufacturer continues to bring this high value-added product to the region agriculture by expanding its planting area in 2026.
The success achieved by the Gold Roots project is important for the evaluation of the local agricultural potential. The strengthening of local production with cooperation of stakeholders contributing to the project is aimed to promote regional and rural development and contribute to regional economy.
