Eastern Anatolia’s Archaeological Heritage University

The Archeological Section Panels, which were organized in the host of our university, brought together public institutions with academia, Archaeological excavations in Eastern Anatolia, Kronological Processes and Cultural Policies. The program performed at the Âşık Şenlik Cultural Center, started after the respect posture and Istiklal Maril. Prof. Rector Assistant Professor of our University, speaking in the opening of the panel. Dr. Zafer Aykanat stressed that the eastern Anatolia has not yet been investigated in archeologically. Prof. Home Aykanat expressed that universities are responsible for producing academic infrastructure that will fill this gap, creating a corporate ground for regional excavations and research. He also expressed that such scientific activities are strategically important in terms of meeting with public policies of information produced in universities. Valmiz Hayrettin Flower speaking in the program attracted attention to the protection of cultural heritage of archaeological work and social awareness, and the business union between universities and public institutions. Panel, University, Department of Archaeology, Dr. Home Member Oğuz Aras was held in moderator. Bülent Gönültaş, Deputy General Manager of Cultural Assets and Museums in the first session of the panel, evaluated excavation, document and protection works for the region of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the presentation of “Current Archaeological excavation Studies in Eastern Anatolia Region”. Then President of Ayanis and Garibintepe excavation Prof. Dr. Mehmet Işıklı shared new archaeological data based on Van Basin for the last era of Urartu Kingdom with participants. Erzurum Museum Specialist Assoc. Dr. Gülşah Altunsource presented the findings obtained from Early Tunç Age excavations in Erzurum Plain. At the time of the program, our University’s Department of Archaeology lecturers Dr. Öğr. Member İsfaf Bozoğlu Bay and Dr. Ör. Ayşegül Akın Aras received data on current excavations and research conducted around Ardahan. The panel ended with the appeal of strengthening scientific work union for Eastern Anatolia archeology after the question–cevap section.
