Our University started excavation studies at the Archaeological Department Tigem Castle

Ministry of Culture and Tourism Culture Assets and Museums General Directorate, Kars Museum üyesi and Ardahan University Faculty of Archeology Prof. Dr. Home The scientific responsibility of Ayşegül Akın Aras started archaeological excavations in Tigem Castle, located in Ardahan ili Göle district. Ardahan University Archaeology Department teaching members and the first findings obtained in excavations that students are active participation, revealing that the castle was built in the Late Tunç–Eken Iron Age and settles in the Late Iron Age. Tigem Castle, which attracts attention with its strong sur architecture and inner castle structure, is an important center to light the history and cultural history of the region. The excavation works are carefully maintained with the support of Ardahan Governorship, Ardahan University, Göle Kaymakam and Göle Municipality. The new findings to be obtained are expected to provide significant contributions to the further emergence of the archaeological wealth of Ardahan and the environment.
